Hello everyone. I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Thelma Rose Kamagata. My family name may sound a little unusual for someone from England, but that is because I married someone from Japan and in our culture when a woman gets married she takes the family name of her husband.
I started working at this College as an oral english teacher in September 2013. Prior to working here I worked as a native English teacher at a Language Training Company called New Dynamic Institute. Before that I worked with another well know language Training Company called Linguaphone. I have been teaching English in Guangzhou for six years now and have taught across a range of ages and backgrounds and levels. My academic background is business and so some of my previous teaching in Guangzhou, particularly when I was with Linguaphone, focussed on Business level English.
Before moving to Guangzhou I worked in Hong Kong in two capacities. I worked as an English teacher and I also worked as an accounting Manager for a Swedish law firm based in Hong Kong. That job featured a number of responsibilities including some staff oversight as well as the usual quarterly accounting reports for the company’s board meetings and the annual accounting reports.
I started teaching in Hong Kong in 1993 September. However, prior to that I was living and working in London. While in London my sole employer was the government department ‘Department of Employment’. Within that department I worked in a range of different administrative and Executive capacities. All my qualifications, with the exception of TEFL obtained while in HK, were gained in England where I was educated. I look forward to facilitating the improvement of the oral English of students in this College.
大家好，很乐意地向大家介绍我自己。我的名字是塞尔玛玫瑰喀玛加特。我的姓氏可能听起来与其它英国人有点不一样，这是因为我嫁给了一个日本人。在我的文化中，女士婚后就随丈夫的姓氏。
2013年9月，我开始在威廉希尔足球官网当英语口语教师。在这之前，我在新动态英语学习机构当英语老师。在此之前我也在另一个知名的语言培训机构——灵格风工作。我在广州从事英语教学工作已有六年了，授课的对象涉及各年龄层、各不同背景和英语水平不一的学生。我的学术背景是商务，所以以前在广州教学大都是商务方面的英语，特别是在灵格风工作的时候。
在来广州之前，我曾在香港任职两份工作。一是英语老师，二是在一间驻香港瑞典法律事务所当会计经理。此项工作的职责范围包括监管职员工作以及负责日常董事会议的季度财务报告以及年度财务报告。
1993年9月我就开始在香港教书。然而，在那之前，我一直在伦敦生活和工作。在伦敦的时候，我仅受雇于政府部门的“就业部”。在这部门里，我做过各式各样的行政工作。除了通用英语教师资格证书（Teaching English as a Foreign Language）是在香港取得的，本人所有的资格证书都在伦敦上学时获得的。我十分期待去提高南国学生们的英语口语。
